Survey the landscape for defensive position. Harvest the resources within the nation of Arborglen's boundaries. Establish fortifications to impede and defeat the invading Grainwraith before the Spires of Morosith are overrun.
Grow your arsenal of defensive Towers and economic Buildings by discovering Ancient Knowledge in the forests as you progress through the game. When prepared, the Endless Mode pushes your creative problem solving to the max. Portals allow the enemies to slip through space, but can be used to the benefit of your strategy. Yaks, sheep, and other wildlife may have something to say about building in their territories.
Master your connection to the environments in Spires of Morosith as each decision impacts the shape of the battlefield. Need more room? Command your Gatherers to harvest the forests. If the Grainwraith are marching past the Obelisks, alter their route by placing Towers in their path!
Spires of Morosith is a game inspired by the classic tower defense games created by Starcraft and Warcraft players. Like Sunken TD and Wintermaul Wars, the invading enemies are given a path to their goal that can be manipulated by the player’s actions. I want to build upon these experiences to create a tower defense game that has moment-to-moment strategic problem solving in an ever-evolving battlefield matched with a relaxing, light-hearted visual identity that gives the player a calm setting with peaks of intense encounters.
I wanted a project that could give me practical experience coding a video game. Chosing to leverage my art & design experiences building the tower defense/offense games Fieldrunners 2, Fieldrunners Attack!, and Warcraft Rumble I put most of my effort towards trying to learn video game programming. Development became as fun as playing the game because of the endless opportunities to push myself.
Spires of Morosith's unique win condition challenges the player’s ability to think many steps in advance, assuring the Grainwraith are defeated with intent. Developing the game, I have found players that can find harmony in their defenses, the environment, and their mind will be in a better position to find success than those that are acting through reaction to the swarming Grainwraith.
